PASTOR

Pastor Paul Avery and his wife Joanna were missionaries serving in Córdoba, Argentina. In 2016 they came home to Iowa for an extended medical furlough for two of their daughters. While unable to return to Argentina at this time, God has led Paul to Hillcrest Baptist as their pastor.

Paul and Joanna met at Faith Baptist Bible College where they both majored in missions ministries. Paul chose to focus on Spanish ministries especially through the Arriba! program and Joanna has a strong background in counseling. They have 4 adorable children who love church almost as much as their parents.

In his free time, Paul prefers to spend his time in his workshop making anything and everything out of woods. Black walnut is his favorite. Joanna loves her Cricut and designing small signs and decorations. Julia and Lydia are becoming quite good on the piano while Sofia and David still have their focus on playing all day.
